The number of the Russians supporting(maintaining) building of the new atomic power stations, prevails over number of opponents of atomic engineering, not looking on events in Japan and the failure(accident) 25 anniversary on ЧАЭС: interrogation
40 % of Russians are convinced of necessity to build new NPPs (55 % men and 19 % women). This is indicated by the poll data of the Research centre of the recruiting portal Superjob.ru on the eve of 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl NPP tragedy.
According to respondents, it is the most reasonable and effective way of generating electric power: “Without NPPs the country will not survive, we will not have enough fuel resources. It is just necessary to design and build modern power units, instead of stealing money during construction”; “Sooner or later the oil will be over, there is no here. New energy sources are not yet found…”.
About third of respondents (35 %), on the contrary, believe that building of the new NPPs in Russia must be stopped. “There are many alternative energy sources in Russia”; “I answer as an expert! There is no need to play dangerous games”, the respondents make comments. There are more women among those who want to stop building new NPPs (45 % against 28 % among men), younger than 24 years respondents (44 %) and those with the low income (monthly income less than 25 thousand rubles).
The poll was held in all Federal Districts on April 22–23, among economically active population above 18; in 1600 respondents have been polled.
