VNIINM was found in 1945 to solve materials-science and technological problems related to the production of nuclear weapons. Current research includes the design of fuel rods for various types of nuclear reactors, perfecting the means and methods of non-destructive monitoring, work on superconductors and beryllium, and cold plasma projects.
